Winter ActivitiesMontvilliers is 4km from La Plagne-Montalbert which is an ideal starting point for a challenging and/or relaxing ski holiday. The ski station has many attractive runs through the trees, snowmaking facilities, a free drag lift, and links to the remainder of the La Plagne domain. The new link to Les Arcs via the Vanoise Express, which has created the Paradiski area, provides over 460km of skiing to suit all levels of experience and ability. Montalbert has a ski school and at various times during the ski season there are torchlight descents by the ski instructors, firework displays and free vin chaud. In addition to downhill skiing there is cross country skiing, guided snow shoe walks, huskie drawn sleigh rides. Not far from the top of the first chair lift at Montalbert 1600 there is a lovely mountain restaurant called Le Forporet with its mini farm and local cheese making. It serves good local food, half pint glasses of vin chaud and has a terraced exterior with stunning views. In recent years extensive snow making facilities have been installed on the piste, Le Gentil, that passes this restaurant which keeps it open throughout the ski season. Le Gentil is suitable for all ski abilities and is the favoured run by ski instructors to return to Montalbert. Le Forporet is also often frequented by those not choosing to ski as at Montalbert 1600 there is a large free car park. Alternatively there are several different walking trails that can be taken to reach Le Forporet. Motdit can serve as a base to ski many nearby resorts including Les Arcs (via Bourg St Maurice), the Three Valleys via Brides les Bains, Tignes, Val D'Isere, La Rosiere & La Thuile, and St Foy Tarentaise.
